Back in March, 30 Year 11 boys were involved in a writing workshop with the head of English, Miss Rumbelow and Duane Saunders from Gower College. They had to write a persuasive letter of application.
Miss Rumbelow said, “I wanted to link football with writing to show the boys that communication is so vital in everything in life. That’s why we came up with this programme; to improve literacy through the things our pupils love.”
The best letters were written by Taisir Assa, Kent Olakudun, Brad Israel, Luke Jones, Dan Gallagher, Cole O’Grady, Jahan Hoque and Mitchel Fowler (all Year 11).
The winners enjoyed a full tour of the Liberty Stadium including the home and away changing rooms, press rooms and dug-out. It was great to hear all about the behind-the-scenes work that goes on at Swansea City FC.
A huge well done to the boys; we hope their success continues to the exam!
