Chelbie’s India Project

On 31st July Chelbie Williams headed off for Heathrow to begin her Indian adventure. She went up to Heathrow in the school mini-bus, picking up Beth Stronach, fellow Welsh Virgin Scholarship winner, en route. Both girls joined the other 28 winners at Heathrow for emotional farewells.

On 17th August the trip to London was repeated in order to bring the travellers home. Again, emotions were running high with families trying to catch the first glimpse of sons and daughters. Chelbie described her time in India as an emotional roller coaster, with the child poverty being especially shocking. One of the Virgin Scholarship tasks was to assist in the building of a school and this task was completed.

Chelbie has promised to return to school and share the detail of her experience so future students may be inspired. So watch this space…
