    Dear Parent/Carer

We hope that you and your family are safe at this difficult and worrying time. We hope that
you are managing to enjoy the good weather, even if it is only in your garden, and that you
are all establishing good work and wellbeing routines.

    Wider safeguarding during COVID Crisis
With the prospect of schools across Wales remaining closed for a significant period of time,
the likelihood of children spending a considerable amount of time researching, gaming or
communicating online will increase. The priority for all parents and teachers is to keep
children safe online, prevent harm and safeguard at all times. However, we do know that
there are some dangerous people who may choose to exploit the most vulnerable within
our communities because they understand that now children will be online more than
    usual.

Please consider the following when you or your child is online:

    Children should
 Know who they are talking to
     Not speak to strangers
 Only open messages from sources they trust
     Protect their online reputation
 Not give out personal information
 Understand not everything online is true
 Speak to someone if they have been made to feel uncomfortable whilst online
 Block and report people who are trolling
     Not give into pressure
 Not share images, video of inappropriate material
     Think before they post
     Keep safe online

    Parents should
 Monitor who their child is communicating with online
 Monitor the content and material accessed or downloaded
     Check content is appropriate
 Set boundaries and parental controls
     Discuss their online activity
 Manage / check privacy settings
 Know where to find help

Please remember that appropriate staff are available via email to advise and support you.
Email addresses can be found via the link above or on the Home Learning area of the
Pentrehafod School website. Your child should also be receiving weekly emails from his/her
form teacher and this person is a good initial point of contact.

    Home Learning

We have provided online resources to support your child to continue learning whilst the
school remains closed, including HWB Teams and links to various educational websites.
Information can be found on the Home Learning area of the website. If your child cannot
access HWB please email either JenkinsA330@hwbmail.net or EllettS@hwbcymru.net and
they will provide a HWB username and password.

    Please keep safe
