June 3rd Update on Returning to schools in Wales
Dear Parents/Carers/Students
You will be aware that the minister announced today, June 3rd 2020, that schools will be open for no more than a third of students from 29th June and will run in the this way until the 27th July. In October there will then be an extra half term week.
Her clear message today was that these sessions are for students to have the opportunity to check in, catch up and prepare for a new model of learning in September. We know that teachers and students will have to continue to work in a very different way. Kirsty Williams has promised some very detailed guidance on this next week. Once we have received this detailed guidance we will be working very closely with the Local Authority to undertake a very detailed risk assessment to prepare for June 29th.
I know you will have lots of questions, as I do. I will be communicating as regularly as possible and will share all the information I have as quickly as possible. Please keep checkin our website or twitter feed.
It’s an uncertain time for us all but I have every confidence that we will work together to welcome back our children with real empathy and care.
Keep safe,
Jennifer Ford
