Letter to parents and carers regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Dear Parent/Carer,
Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
At Pentrehafod School we take the health and safety of our staff and students very seriously and, whilst there have been no reported cases at the school to date, we are monitoring the situation very closely and following all recommended Government advice. This includes thorough cleaning and a commitment to excellent hygiene.
However, I have now made the difficult decision, that from Monday 16th March we will not take part in any extra-curricular activities, including sporting fixtures. This is in line with most sporting associations.
I have directed all staff to cancel external courses/training as I would like them to maximise current teaching and learning opportunities whilst we can.
I am mindful that we are in a very challenging situation and things are changing very quickly. Please do check our official Pentrehafod website (https://pentrehafod.school/) regularly or follow our twitter feed (https://twitter.com/Pentrehafod).
If your son/daughter presents as unwell with early onset symptoms, or a family member is unwell, then please follow current guidance of self-isolation. Please follow the usual absence processes.
If there is a decision to close then your son/daughter will have been directed to learning materials which they can use independently to prepare for any GCSE examinations. We have been advised that Qualifications Wales is monitoring the situation and we will remain in regular contact with the WJEC regarding any further advice and updates.
Thank you for your continued support. It is very important that we work as a community in these very difficult circumstances.
Yours sincerely,
Jennifer Ford
