    Consultation with parents

    18th March, 2019

    Dear Parents/Carers

I wrote to you in February to discuss proposed changes to the school day for September, 2019. There has been a period of formal consultation and parents/carers have shared their views through an online questionnaire, at a formal meeting or by letter.

The majority of parents/carers are in favour of the changes. The biggest concern raised has been the proposal to reduce the second break by ten minutes (from 40 minutes to 30 minutes) as parents question whether the students will have enough time to eat their lunch. However, we are monitoring the queue times now and the young people are getting through more quickly due to a revised queuing system. We also have the capacity to open another serving hatch if we needed to, so further reducing queues.

Finally, there is some capacity trial this for the Autumn term and if it doesn’t work then look to increase the time for the year ahead. However, the 2:50 pm finish could not change until the next school year and would be the subject to re-consultation.

Thank you for those of you who chose to feedback to us. We are committed to working to improve the school experience and the structure of the day is an important part of the experience,

    Yours sincerely,

    Jennifer Ford
