Yesterday saw BBC Radio 1 Academy visit Pentrehafod School as part of an educational event in the lead up to Radio 1’s Big Weekend music festival.  The Academy is run by BBC Learning with the aim of inspiring and equipping young people aged 16-24 for a career in the creative industries.

Our year 10 & 11 students were given the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session hosted by a BBC Radio 1 DJ, Jordan North.  Jordan was accompanied by YouTubers Niki and Sammy Albon who talked about their experiences to date, job options and opportunities in the creative industries sector, and their personal interests.  The students had a chance to ask their own questions which opened up some very interesting conversations.

The students and staff all enjoyed the experience and found it inspirational and informative.  We hope Radio 1 enjoyed as much as we did!
