Science Discovery Day
Today some of our Year 8 pupils took part in a STEM Discovery day. Llinos Misra from See Science ran a session on the spread of infectious diseases within the developing world. We were joined by Rhiannan Forsyth (Ph.D. student at Swansea University) and Mark Stevens (Royal Marine) who set us the challenge of building a hand washing device. The device needed to be built for less than 125 credits and needed to collect and store rainwater so that it could be used to wash hands.
The day was a huge success with all 5 groups building a successful prototype. All pupils were rewarded with a Crest Discovery award and the winning team has been entered into the Youth Grand Challenge competition. Thank you to all those pupils who got involved and made the day such a success.
