(Update 9th Sept, 2020)
Dear Parents/Carers
Please find below the links to PDF documents relating to the revised school day (from Sept 14th, 2020) for each year group at Pentrehafod School.
(Update 28th Aug, 2020)
Dear Parents/Carers,
There is detailed information on our school website regarding our timetabled return to school. This has also been posted out to all families.
Please can you check the days for your year group and the exact time slots. Students are not in for the entire days and there are staggered start and end times. There will also be no facility for lunch until the week beginning 14th September, so please can you ensure that your son/daughter brings in a drink (no fizzy or energy drinks are allowed) and a snack.
At present students do NOT have to wear masks in school. We will be following detailed Risk Assessments and following social distancing guidelines where possible. However, you may wish your son/daughter to bring a mask to school for wearing in corridors. If this is the case then please can you make sure your son/daughter know that they should avoid touching their faces when applying or removing a mask. They will also need to sanitise hands after touching the mask.
Please keep checking the website as Covid-19 guidance changes regularly. Further guidance from NHS Wales regarding the Test, Trace and Protect program can be downloaded here. A letter from the Director of Education, regarding the return of pupils to Swansea’s schools, can be downloaded here.
We look forward to meeting our students again next week,
Take care,
Jennifer Ford
(Update 17th July, 2020)
Dear Parents/Carers
I wanted to thank all of you for your support over the last term. It has been the strangest term in education. We have had to keep our distance but many of us have felt closer than ever before.
We have missed the children very much and have enjoyed seeing the students who have come in to school over the last three weeks. Behaviour and attitude to learning has been excellent and they have coped incredibly well with a very different school experience.
Letters have now been sent to each year group and they contain detailed plans for September. You can also find these plans on the website under the ‘Plans for September’ section. Please do keep checking the website as we expect there to be some changes before September 1st.
School will be open for most of the summer but will close for two weeks from Monday 3rd to Friday 14th August. Results day is on Thursday 20th August and year 11 students have been contacted to explain the process and timings. Year 10 English Literature results will be posted out.
I wish you and your families a restful and relaxing holiday,
Yours faithfully,
Jennifer Ford

Message from the Head Teacher – Returning to School Arrangements
Please find, via the links below, a letter for each new year group that will be starting their studies at Pentrehafod School in September 2020. In these letters from the Head Teacher, it lays out a detailed plan for the first eight school days in September. Please refer to it carefully.
Please watch this video message from Mrs Ford, outlining how the opening of Pentrehafod School in September will be organised for each year group and explaining in detail the timetables that you see below:
(Updated 9th July, 2020)
Arrangements for September 2020
I am sure you are now aware that Kirsty Williams has announced that she would like all children back in school for 1st September. However, there is some flexibility to allow us to prioritise key year groups until Monday 14th September.
At Pentrehafod we have decided to build in this flexibility and we will only have 3 year each day groups back until Friday 11th September.
This timetable will be shared with you on Friday 10th July along with an explanatory video.
From Monday 14th September, ALL students will return and they will then be taught in contact groups of no more than 30. The minister stated that these contact groups will stay together so students will continue to follow a bespoke timetable for another week. We will then review the situation.
Thank you for your support and patience at what has been a very challenging time for all of us.
Best wishes
Jennifer Ford
