Admissions to Pentrehafod School for students with a Statement of Special Educational Needs are conducted through a partnership between the school, the Local Authority and parents/carers. The prospective students and parents/carers visit the school, the school then decides with the Local Authority whether or not to offer a placement and the parents/carers decide whether or not to accept it.
If an offer of placement is accepted then a starting date will be agreed and the appropriate preparations are made. Such preparations may include a risk assessment to determine health and safety requirements.
Students with disabilities, without a statement are admitted to school according to the LA admission policy. Information regarding any disability is discussed in an admissions policy meeting with parents/carers, the partner primary school or previous comprehensive school and a Health Care Plan and an Individual Education Plan is negotiated.
