    The School Curriculum

    • The School Curriculum

At Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) our students study English, Mathematics and Science (the Core subjects).

In addition the following foundation subjects are studied – History, Geography, Religious Education, French or German, Welsh, Art, Drama, Music, Design Technology, ICT, Physical Education, Personal and Social Education.

All subject areas make extensive use of ICT based resources in their teaching. Teachers plan lessons that cater for the differing learning styles of students and provide challenge throughout. Literacy and numeracy skills development is intrinsic in all subject areas.

At KS4 (Years 10 and 11) our students follow the compulsory curriculum which comprises English, Mathematics, Science, Welsh, Religious Education, Physical Education and Personal and Social Education (PSE).

Students then choose three options subjects from a wide range of choices that provide them with the remainder of their curriculum time. Students can choose from GCSE, Vocational GCSE, BTEC Vocational and City and Guilds at an appropriate level to their ability.

During KS4, all students have  Application of Number, ICT and wider key skills qualifications in Welsh Baccalaureate.

All Year 10 and 11 students will follow a learning core programme that encompasses PSE, Careers Guidance, work related education and will work towards gaining the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification. During year 10 students will participate in a week of work related activities.

    14 – 19 Pathways

The school works closely with other providers such as Employment Training, Gower College and Neath Port Talbot College to ensure that it provides the broadest range of opportunities that it can. Students are provided with guidance in making their post 16 choices through the Swansea common application process.
