Headteacher’s Welcome

Pentrehafod School is a thriving community focussed school that has served a wide area of Swansea East since 1976. We are an inclusive school providing a wide range of opportunities, both within the formal and informal curriculum, in a caring and supportive environment. Achievement of all kinds is valued and celebrated.

I am very privileged to be the Headteacher of Pentrehafod School and am fully committed to the school as it continues to raise standards and create the best provision for all our young people.

There is much more to Pentrehafod School than just exam success: we endeavour to ensure every student receives a holistic experience. When students leave us, we expect them to be happy, ethical, and enterprising citizens. In the sporting arena our students excel, with most of our boys’ football teams either winning or reaching the finals in the local competitions. We value music and drama and continue to invest in this area.

We are committed to being a reading school; both staff and students know that by growing a passion for reading and building independence in learning, then every child can succeed. Our school was the first in Wales to be awarded ‘School of Sanctuary’ status. This reaffirms the school’s reputation for care and support in our immediate and extended community. The School Parliament aims to maximise student voice, ensuring that we really do create leaders for the future. Thank you for taking the time to read our prospectus. If you require further information, then please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Best wishes,

Mr Mathew J. Goulding
