Curriculum Information:
In English Language we develop reading, writing and oracy skills to form ambitious and
capable learners. We study these skills through different themes such as Science and
Technology, the World of Work and Citizenship. Our relevant, challenging topics inspire
learners to put empathy into action using authentic contexts and the world around them.
English Literature

In English Literature we read and interpret a wide range of modern and traditional
literature, reading for meaning, inferring as well as analysing plot and character. This allows
us to learn about a wide range of different social and historical contexts. Using Empathy Lab
strategies, we grow ethical and informed citizens. English Literature advocates reading for
pleasure and drives literacy through our regular library lessons.

In Media Studies we develop enterprising and creative contributors by exploring a range of
media and the messages which they contain. Media Studies looks in depth at film, music
and advertising, analysing and interpreting bias and persuasion. Media is about using our
understanding of inference, audience and perspective to produce inspired, creative
outcomes.
