Area of Learning and Experience: Mathematics and Numeracy

Area of Learning and Experience Leader: Jessica Smith

    Vision for AoLE:

Mathematics is essential for everyday life and understanding our world. It is therefore fundamentally important to ensure that all pupils have the best possible mathematics education. They need to understand the mathematics they learn so they can be creative in solving problems, as well as being confident and fluent in developing and using the mathematical skills so valued in the world of industry and higher education.
Students are the priority and we aim to make every decision from the point of view: “What is in the best interest of our students?” We are a successful department, but we are a team that seeks to improve and which aims to be the best.

    Curriculum Areas within the AoLE:

    Mathematics
    Numeracy

    Curriculum Information:
GCSE Mathematics will extend to aspects of mathematics needed for progression to scientific, technical or further mathematical study.

GCSE Mathematics – Numeracy will build on and progress from the levels of numeracy expected at the end of Key Stage 3 through the Literacy and Numeracy Framework and will assess the mathematics that learners will need in their everyday lives, in the world of work, and in other general curriculum areas.
